I Want Out!

“The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page. “

-St. Augustine

I want to get out of my hometown so bad and just travel! I don’t want to move away from it for good, but I desperately want to get out and see the world (or at least the US). I want to take so many pictures and meet new people and ways of life.

It’s certainly a dream to just drop everything here and go somewhere (preferably out west – somewhere with lots of fields and nice people). I would love to take a job for a couple months and make just enough to live on and do my own thing…then pick up and go somewhere else. It would be hard…but I’d learn so much about life.

Everyone I know always tells me “Oh, you have so much time to do it!” But really, I know I won’t. I want to have a family and a career someday (hopefully before 30) and I don’t want to regret not ever getting out and experiencing so many great things.

I am definitely not supposed to stay in one place right now. :)

Pulled in Every Direction…

That’s exactly how I’ve felt for the past few weeks. I haven’t had much time for anything anymore. But the funny thing is…I haven’t really been all that busy. I think it’s just all pent-up stress and it’s making me tired and a bit irritable at times. I wish I wasn’t like that but I try to push things to the side until the last possible moment then they rear their ugly heads, all at once.

But wow. Yesterday morning I went to breakfast with Ronny (I go every other Sunday morning when he works) and I had to take back some movies (Blockbuster really should put their late fees back on – it’s making me not want to go drop their movies off…I’m such a procrastinator :P ) and I happened to drive back a back way home. I always pass by this little field (it’s right down the road from my house) but every time there’s a gorgeous picture to be taken I forgot my camera. Not this time. It was a Sunday morning and I it was too late to start getting ready for Church so I raced home and grabbed my camera and came back to take a few shots. Needless to say I’m forgetful and lost my lenscap on the side of the road because I forgot to get from the back of my car. But, it’s almost worth it to get this shot:

He was such a wonderful poser. :)

So, the sun was still beautiful so I drove around my neighborhood and then after I got home, walked through my neighborhood, looking for new shots to take.
It really does have a calming effect. I’m so glad I get that kind of calm from just taking photos. It’s just such a great creative outlet. :)

Happy 4th of July!

So yeah. We’re having a family cookout thing and I decided I wanted to make cupcakes.

Who would’ve thought it would’ve caused me so much trouble?! :P

I made too many (only because I didn’t want to waste the mix, lol – I ended up making BIG ones out of the rest of it :P ), then I realized that the second “cake-saver” was actually a “pie-saver”…so now my cupcakes are squished in one, lol.

I gave up on the third batch of them. I got tired of icing cupcakes.

Eh, I think they came out okay (the pinwheels on the cupcakes actually spin – how cute!)…

Anyways…have a safe and happy 4th! :)

Singing (er…playing) in the Rain

So last Saturday was an all around bad day. Nothing was working out right, me and Ronny had been arguing all day, I had a wedding to shoot at 6:30pm and I had nothing to wear. Just wasn’t working for me, I was stressed because of the wedding (I’ve done them before, but I’m always nervous…what if they don’t like my shots? Just general worries…) and everything else piled on top of that was the perfect concoction for a bad day.

So I finished with the wedding (went well, btw) and I started driving home. It started POURING. Not just raining, but “you-can’t-see-to-drive” rain. All I could think was “Great, what else can you throw at me God?” (Never a good idea to really ask God that, by the way :P ). Then it hit me…I can either keep on having a bad day…or I can turn it around.

So I finally got home and was waiting for Ronny to come back and I told him to hurry before it stops raining. He got there and then all I told him was to roll up his pants legs and take his socks and shoes off. Lol, he thought I was mad. Then I short of forced him to play in the rain with me. I haven’t played in the rain in years…and I don’t know why. It was always fun to me and always put me in a better mood.

One point I need to make: I LOVE the fact that scarfs are back. They definitely hide frizzy wet hair when you go eat dinner, lol. :)

(The only picture I really took. I was afraid to have my camera out in the rain. Here I was waiting on Ronny.)
